Koishi means pebble in Japanese.
The Koishi collection was born of David Flower's love of finding that one special pebble on a beach - of the billion stones we see, only one gets chosen. The interiors of the vessels are bright, special, and the exteriors are staid to project the inside colour.
To get the black and white effect the glass is first rolled, whilst at 1000 degrees centigrade into white powdered glass then heated and rolled into black powdered glass - when heated the soft black begins to move before the hard white, thus creating the pattern.
