Holt: A Town with a Story to Tell
Nestled in the beautiful landscapes of North Norfolk, Holt is a town rich in history and character. Did you know that Holt's name derives from the Anglo-Saxon word for ‘woodland’? This town has been a hub of activity for centuries, known for its Georgian charm, vibrant independent businesses, and close-knit community.
One of the town's defining moments came in 1708, when a devastating fire swept through Holt, destroying much of its medieval architecture. From this tragedy, the town rebuilt itself in the elegant Georgian style you see today, creating the timeless streetscape that visitors and locals adore.
Even more impressive, Holt has a deep-rooted creative spirit. From its thriving arts and crafts community to its celebrated galleries and events, this town has always been a haven for makers and dreamers.
