Fascinated by turned wooden forms long before understanding how they were made, Chris discovered woodturning after being persuaded to take a short taster course for his 50th birthday. From the moment he turned his first simple mushroom, he was captivated. Within days, he had bought his first lathe, a basic set of tools, and found a lifelong passion for transforming a tactile, natural material into beautiful, unique creations.
Through years of practice, Chris developed a particular love for rescuing damaged timbers and burrs, giving them new life by combining them with resin tinted using metallic powders and pigments. This process highlights the wood’s natural colours, textures, and imperfections, resulting in striking, one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate the beauty of nature’s flaws.
