Sue welfare - Block Printing Workshop

An introduction to block printing on fabric and paper. 

Using a selection of commercial blocks, we will begin the day by getting to grips with inking and printing techniques to create our own wrapping paper, before moving on to printing on fabric (a tote bag and tea towel.)  Participants will also have the opportunity to design and carve their own printing blocks, which they will be able to take away with them at the end of the day.

We’ll be looking at simple cutting techniques, what works as a pattern as well as exploring repeat patterns &how to create them.

Participants are encouraged to bring along any paper or fabric that they would like to experiment with.  (fabric should be made of a natural material such as cotton)

All materials, blocks, inks, and tools are provided (including  tote bags and tea towels) Participants are asked to bring along an apron, and any ideas that they would like to develop

All Block Printing workshops run from 10am to 3:30pm and include a light lunch of soup with bread. Tea & coffee with biscuits will also be available on breaks. Other cold beverages will also be available during your day with us at Make Holt.
