Collection: Shirehall Apartments - Weld

WELD

Like Madder and Indigo, Weld can be harvested and processed to create a source of pigment for dyeing. Easily identified by its small, bright yellow flowers and tendril-like stems, the flowering plant is native across much of Europe and Western Asia.

Reseda Luteola, whilst used since the first millennium BC, is remarkably still considered a weed by many… its literally such a fantastic source of natural pigment, if everyone just got on board with a bit of dyeing it would never be considered a weed again.

The apartment largely takes colour cues from Weld and other yellow plant dyes, complimented with flashes of  blues, greens and greys. Accented with natural textures and lime-washed brickwork.
